Applying the Economic Case for Quality to Individual Accomplishment

ASQ strategic theme for Economic Case for Quality (ECQ) assists individuals show

their value to their organization. ECQ approaches value from two directions.

The top down approach involves senior quality executives in peer to peer discussions

of the value of quality to the successful outcomes of the business. The bottom up

approach focuses on the individual and the value we provide to our organization not

only through our quality efforts, but our total inventory of skills, knowledge and attitudes.

There are many resources available for the concepts of ECQ, but few references for

applying these approaches to real life. This session provides tools, examples and

activities for participants to envision and design their individual ECQ application to

execute at their location. The session is designed as a workshop. Worksheets are

provided to assist the participant align his or her skills, talents and results to the key

drivers of their organization. The outcome of the session is a clear view of how the

individual contributes to the competitive outcomes of their company. This view can then

be translated into a value statement to an appropriate audience within the organization.
