Concepts for Strategic Project Selection”
Planning
processes often generate a large number of projects, resulting in a
challenge for organizations to prioritize and select from all the
options.
he Orange County Clerk of Courts introduced concepts and tools from
Quality Function Deployment to their Strategic Planning Process to
understand
the relationship of proposed projects to strategic objectives, and
to build consensus in the management team on priorities and
selection criteria.
This presentation will include a short history of how the concepts
were introduced, the spreadsheet tool that was utilized, and the
process.

Kathryn began her
career with Whirlpool, Corp., moving through increasingly
responsible positions in Manufacturing, Information Systems and
Supply Chain.
She reached the position of Director of Logistics for North American
Cooking Products. In 1995 she moved to Haworth, Inc, a $1.5 billion
manufacturer
of office furniture, and was Vice President, Global Order
Fulfillment, with responsibility for Customer Service,
Transportation, Distribution Operations and Quality
Management. At MasterBrand Cabinets, a $2.5 billion manufacturer of
kitchen and bath products and a division of Fortune Brands, she was
Vice President of
Global Supply Chain. In that position she was responsible for
Purchasing, Materials Management, and Logistics, and led development
of a global supply strategy.
Kathryn holds degrees from Ohio University and the University of
Toledo, and is a Registered Professional Engineer.

“Sharing Our
Sterling Journey: Our Results and What We Learned”

Orange County Clerk
of Courts was proud to be a recipient of the 2008 Governor’s
Sterling Award. The Sterling Award is presented to organizations
that have
successfully met the Governor’s Sterling Council Criteria for
Performance Excellence, a framework that closely mirrors that of the
national Baldrige model.
Orange County Clerk of Courts is a constitutional office of the
state of Florida with the Clerk, The Honorable Lydia Gardner,
serving as an elected official in the
Ninth Judicial Circuit. With a workforce of more than 600 deputy
clerks, the Clerk’s services include court support, case
maintenance, data reporting, customer
assistance and collection and disbursement of court fines and fees.
For OCCC, going after the Sterling Award was a multi-year
commitment.
Our presenter, Alphonso Jefferson, will share their journey along
with some of the results, outcomes, and the learnings that the
organization has gained from this initiative.

Alphonso has worked
with the Orange County Clerk of Courts over 5 years, and has over 15
years of experience in the areas financial management, strategy
and business process, and human resources. Throughout the years, he
has had the opportunity to interface and work with various elected
officials, senior staff,
management, citizens and community leaders. He is a key member of
the Orange County Clerk of Courts’ leadership team providing
leadership and direction
to the Financial Services, Human Resources, and Strategy and
Business Development Divisions. Reporting directly to the Chief
Administrative Officer, Alphonso
manages a budget of $45 million and oversees collection activities
for over $200 million annually, which finances, among other areas,
state and local initiatives.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and
a Masters in Business Administration degree.
