Dinner Meeting Topic

 Metrology Education

The presentation will cover the definition of Metrology, the job of a Metrologist, and the impact of their field. Various avenues for careers in Measurement Science will be presented. Also covered are industries that employ Metrologists and the state of Metrology Education in the US today.

Mark Lapinskes, Sypris test & Measurement Inc.

Mark Lapinskes has spent over 20 years in the US Army in the TMDE (Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment) field.  His jobs ranged from Calibration Technician to Team Chief, then finally to supervising instructors in the Calibration School at Keesler AFB, MS.  When the Army decided to relocate the school to Redstone Arsenal, AL, he moved with them.  Mr. Lapinskes retired there at Redstone.

After a brief tenure with Yulista at the Army Primary Standards Lab at Redstone, he took the position of National Technical Training and Support Manager with Sypris Test & Measurement. In this role, Mr. Lapinskes has worked on projects ranging from writing Interactive Training Programs to performing Quality Assurance Audits to setting up sections in the Primary Physical Dimensional Lab in Orlando, FL. In 2006 he also took on the role of Applications Engineer until mid 2007.

He holds degrees both in Electronic Systems Technology and as an Instructor of Technology. He has been active with the National Conference of Standards Laboritories International since joining Sypris in early 2003 and is presently Vice-Presendent of SE United States on the BoD and chair of the Learning & Development Financial Resources Committee.

Special Parking Instructions:

RSVP by 9pm, Friday, September 26 and receive your parking fee with your meeting fee.

Otherwise, you are responsible for the parking fee.

 

Use Garage C.  Go to the Second floor of the garage. 

Look for a student with the ASQ sign, wearing a black ASQ-UCF polo shirt to pick up

your pre-paid parking permit.

 

Remember, Pre-paid parking permits will be provided to those who RSVP by the above deadline. 

All on-campus parking is enforced until 9 PM.  Visitors may park only in Student designated spaces. 

Lots C1 and C2 are for facility and staff only.  Avoid the reserved parking areas.

 

All parking tickets must be placed in a visible position on your dashboard.

UCF can be easily reach via the East-West (408) to toll 417 to University Blvd (east). University Blvd

leads directly into UCF. 

OR  from Rt 50 (Colonial Drive). 

Take Colonial Drive to Alafaya Trail, turn North onto Alafaya, Turn Right into UCF at University Blvd.
