Quality Issues in an Aging Workforce
Abstract
A rapidly aging domestic and global
population; thus, an aging and less able work force, will require
labor-enhancing technology and training
in new skills to maintain a high level of quality and efficiency in
the workplace. Innovations will include
assistance equipment, enhanced lighting, audio and visual
signaling, etc, for on-the-job use. In
addition modifications to work stations, test equipment and
measurement devices will be required.
Engineers and quality practitioners must consider these
changing global demographics when
designing or improving processes. This presentation will address
global population forecasts through
2050, create an awareness of the issues and suggest ways
for engineers and quality practitioners
to better prepare for an aging workforce. |
